Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

Fall for Dance North Festival values and respects diversity of representation, abilities and experiences and acknowledges the role it plays in creating an equitable and accessible dance community.

Fall for Dance North recognizes the barriers of discrimination and disadvantage faced by many peoples in our community, particularly Indigenous peoples, Black and Brown peoples, people of colour and people living with disabilities and mental health challenges. To address this, Fall for Dance North commits to the removal of these barriers within the organization. It commits to being a better ally to aid in the dismantling of historic and current disadvantages for under-represented and marginalized groups.

Fall for Dance North is committed to equity, accessibility, diversity and inclusion in our programming, as an employer, and as a presenter in the community. Fall for Dance North believes that an equitable, accessible and diverse community is key to a better and brighter future. To that end, Fall for Dance North aims to bring artists, arts professionals, audience members and community partners from various backgrounds together, through dance, to be inspired, to learn from each other and to grow.
In 2020, Fall for Dance North engaged with Cultural Pluralism in the Arts Movement Ontario (CPAMO) to undertake an organizational review and Action Planning process. We were also a participant  in the CPAMO POC Cohort 3 initiative in examining organizational change through inclusive equity education in the arts. Fall for Dance North’s staff and Board is committed to continue finding opportunities to come together through professional development, training and shared learning in order to further our work in this area. This work has also shaped our 2022-2024 Strategic Roadmap as we build towards our 10 year anniversary.
